More details on CBTF

This semester you’ll be taking quizes in the Computer-Based Testing Facility (CBTF), a secure, proctored facility where you take computer-administered exams on managed CBTF computers. Please read the How the CBTF Works page and the Getting Started & Reservations page before your first exam.

Pre-Exam tasks

To set up your account, sign in to us.prairietest.com with your CalNet ID to instantiate your PrairieTest account.

We will enter students into the Prairie Test testing center at the beginning of the semester. Students will then need to login and accept their invitation. You will not receive an email with your invitation, you will only see it once you log in.

Submit any DSP accommodations as soon as possible to your course instructor so they can be entered into your PrairieTest account.

STAT 135 course staff have to manually provide CBTF the information at least a week before the quiz opens. So please be prompt in getting your DSP letter for STAT 135 sent to us.
Note: if you haven’t instantiated your account (step 1), CBTF staff cannot enter your accommodations.

Make reservations for your exams once self-reservations open. Instructions for making, changing, or deleting reservations are here.

Course staff will let you know when each exam opens for reservations. You can change a reservation up to 90 minutes before the session starts.
If you cancel after that 90 minute window or miss your reservation entirely, you will have to email the center or go in person to the center before you can reserve a new time.
The quiz opens for students to be able to register roughly a week before the quiz. Book a time as soon as you can. Don’t wait until the middle of the testing period or there might not be seats available.

When taking exams in the CBTF, use the “PrairieTest” shortcut on the desktop.

Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled session to check in on time. Exams start right at the listed session time.
You may not use any unauthorized devices or materials during your exam (smartphones, personal cheat sheets, smartwatches, smart glasses, etc.)
Proctors monitor the CBTF and report any instances of academic dishonesty to course staff directly.
- If you find that accommodations do not meet your needs, please contact your instructor and DSP specialist so that alternate arrangements can be made for you.
Proctors cannot answer any content-related questions during your exam. You will be instructed to report an issue on PrairieLearn which will be sent to your course staff for review.
If your course is not holding its own orientation quiz / pre-test, the CBTF will offer a 20 minute, no-stakes, orientation quiz during Week 2 of the semester (August 31 - September 4th). It is highly recommended that you sign up for a slot during this time so you can get an understanding of the CBTF process before your first real exam.
